​A part of my eco-resonances, this video was originally 15 minutes long.  It was done when I first arrived, however a month later, I can really only handle a minute of editing it....they are so loud!  It's almost excruciating, and definately deafening.  Tip to getting them out of your house so you don't lose your hearing: Turn on the porchlight and turn all of the house lights off, they will go.  But before you do make sure you check them out, they are quite lovely actually, their wings are copper in the light.  Thier life cycles are quite interesting actually, no wonder they make some noise.
From Wiki:  "Most cicadas are cryptic, singing at night to avoid predators. The periodic cicadas spend most of their lives as underground nymphs, emerging only after 13 or 17 years, which may reduce losses by starving their predators and eventually emerging in huge numbers that overwhelm and satiate any remaining predators. "  13-17 years! in the ground!  make some noise folks!

This is comprised of a sequence of butoh eco-resonances that I did while visiting Sri Lanka.  The text is the paragraph from the book I was reading when I came home after visiting Little Adams Peak.  Upon arriving, as it said in guides, the entire view will become obstrued with cloud mist in afternoon.  I arrived in time, and as every one else left, I was left with a magical moment, a really long moment :)  The book, which I cherish, is "A Journey to Inner Peace and Joy:Tracing Contemporary Chinese Hermits by Zhang Jianfeng.

This is also part of the eco-resonance work that I have been doing, but a particulary special piece, as I had been developing a strong relationship under this tree for 3 months.  I did this piece on the last day, last hour, that I was there.  We had been holding many of our butoh classes here in this space, and I had also spoken with it as a sacred place to contemplate my own  identity in this life (hence the sunglasses...lol)

I have been travelling to natural areas and combining my skills of tantric connection with butoh dance (a modern japanese art form that you just need to google or better, youtube)  So I go to a space, jive with it, hit record and see what happens.
I want to connect with nature in a way that is more than academic, environmentalist, or aesthetic.  Nature is where we are and is barely discernable from ourselves.  We are made by our environment, and I want to explore!

I name it thus, as "slow ash walk" is a core practice of butoh, and also an extrordinary way to reconnect with a 'present-moment' self and also to tune into our many senses.  Sensing the world can really send us through a wormhole into our true being....one that I like to imagine as magical human animals.
