How to make Magic Happen

When we move slow,
time changes,
our senses become more acute,
our bodies speak to us,
vibration is felt,
gravity embraces us,
the sun penetrates us,
the doors of dimensions open,
and we pause to speak with our own divinity.

May the magical humans of this earth
walk together in awareness,
blessing the ground with intention,
vibrations emerging through their hands,
tending to each other and the earth,
creating a collective reality of honesty, abundance,
and harmony.

With every step
is a chance to engage with the incredible,
but it takes practice.
Walk on, walk slowly, walk far and
journey to another place
to find the right here, right now
inside of you.

Maya Victorine,
Performing and Visual Artist

While living in Portland, Oregon, I was exposed to Butoh at the Headwaters Theater, and became hooked.  I traveled the world learning from many masters and participating in community learning experiences.  All told, and many photographs and passport stamps later, I think my favorite teacher was Meshi Chavez, teaching weekly right at home in Portland.  We talked about both the Tao and Quantum Physics, and it led to my later developing, in Serbia, what I call Quantum Corpus, based on a performance there.  It emphasizes developing the many sensory bodies and increasing proprioception within and outside of oneself, so that one can best receive the dance and best translate it to the physical world, through Ma.  Personal performances are often angsty, include ancient/non-ancient props, and include spoken word poetry.
